Dear Readers,
As a probiotics manufacturer, I receive comments from our customers almost daily.
I thought I would share the comments below from Elizabeth Schmidt of Vista California, who gives probiotic supplements to her pets – with some remarkable results. Yes, probiotics can be as good for your pets as they are for you!
In 1986, my roommate and I moved to Los Angeles from back East, and acquired our first chinchillas as pets. At that time, because of their digestive system, we started adding a pinch of the Natren product then called ‘DFA (Dairy Free Acidophilus)’ to their food on a daily basis. At this time, we still have chinchillas as pets and use Natren’s Mega-Vegidophilus. We have used these products because chinchillas are total vegetarians by nature. The ‘normal’ life expectancy for these animals in captivity is around 7-9 years. Our animals through the years have routinely lived well into their teens, with our oldest chinchilla having died earlier this year at the age of 21 years. Our exotic animal veterinarian, who is brilliant and very open-minded, indicates he doesn’t understand how or why our regiment with these animals works, but advises us not to change a thing! Both my roommate and I are convinced that the longevity of these pets is due a great deal to our long-term use of your product!
Last year, the veterinarian that we see for our dogs was very frustrated. We had one dog that was having terrible smelly gas that we were unable to treat. He suggested as a final thing to try that we consider acidophilus. Since we already had the Mega-Vegidophilus in house for the chinchillas, we started adding a teaspoon of the product to her food each evening. Happily, we and she are no longer subject to her horrible gas. The only change we made to treat her problem was the use of the Natren product.
We are completely convinced of the effectiveness of your product, and will continue to depend on it and use it based upon our past experiences. Thank you so much for your fine product and excellent service!

To say my dog is flatulent, would be an understatement. What would you reccomend for a black lab, weighing about 45 pounds? How long does it take to have a noticable effect?
Thanks!

Hi,
I have a chronic stomach condition and seem to feel sooo much better now that I am on probiotics. But want to be sure that I am not overdoing it. What is the max I can take per day?
Thanks!
Trish
Hi Trish–
Thanks so much for your great question! I have also sent an email to your personal gmail answering your question. Because probiotics are non-toxic at any level, there is no “max” you can take a day. That means that you can take as many as you like per day. Unlike vitamins, you can’t “overdose” on a good probiotic, like Natren’s Healthy Trinity. I, myself, take about ten capsules of Healthy Trinity a day. I hope this answers your question, and keep enjoying probiotics!
